. This is stil an example of the Cosmonaute model with first movement, ref. 809, which was in fact movement Venus 178 with 24h complication.

Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute is the first Swiss and chronograph wrist watch in space. On 4.5.1962 Scott Carpenter was the astronaut who had on his orbital space flight this watch on his wrist.

Breitling Cosmonaute is in fact Breitling Navitimer Chronograph with reference 806. Carpenter suggested Breitling to add 24h dial. Breitling updated Navitimer with this idea, watch with this modification got the Cosmonaute extension and reference number 809.

What gives this watch added value is the fact that original plastic box with the instruction manual is included. Manual us for the standard 12H Navitamer 806 watch as all the functions except 24h dial were the same.

Diameterof the watch is 41mm. Watch runs smoothly and accurate, the chronograph runs fine and resets to zero.

Dial shows some patina, iluminova on hands has almost diminished. Case has some light scratches, backplate something more. Glass is clear.

Watch has an original leather strap which is  good condition and has a strange proportion in lug/buckle measures (22/16) but you will receive it together with the original buckle (which does not have breitling sign on it!). As an addition, on the watch is a replacement Rios strap with another buckle, also original. So two straps and two buckles are in the offer together with the watch.
